The point of this scene was to show how Gandhi advocated for the rights of the Indians. He had decided to be the voice of the oppressed and stand against the British. Gandhi is seen as a public figure and the Indians believe that he was in the front line in fighting against racial discrimination.

At the beginning, he ordered for the first class section in the train but he is denied that opportunity because he was an Indian. He started advocating for fairness and equality and this landed him to prisons in several occasions. The British perceived him as a threat and at the end they end up assassinating him.

The context of the entire film brings out how racial oppression was so popular and the efforts to advocate for equality were put in place by the oppressed individuals. The oppressors are against the efforts to create a free and fair environment.

Gandhi reacts in the scene where a number of woman and children of Indian ascent are killed by a militia troop. This lands him to jail where he encounters beating by the authorities. He opposes the brutal act by going for a hunger strike. He reacts with the intent to stop the oppression and this makes the scene in the film to mark a turning point.

The changes occurs leading to Gandhi to be jailed frequently because of his urge to fight against discrimination and promote equality among the entire population. He is oppressed by being subjected to harsh beatings in all the circumstances that he conflicts with the authority.

The music in the Gandhi film is called discovery of India. The function of the theme music aims at making Indians proud of their discovery. It creates unity and the spirit to advocate for fairness in the entire community.
